Week of July 23, 2012
The contractors continue to make progress in all areas of the project. The cofferdam for pier 2 is complete and McHugh has started installing the steel piling there. The temp bridge for pier 3 is completed and installation of the cofferdam has begun. McHugh did quite a bit of excavation adjacent to northbound IL 31 and on Red Gate, west of the river. Hecker worked on their electrical items and Western Utility continued on the watermain installation east of the river.
During the next week, McHugh will finish driving the piles for pier 2 and will begin framing the concrete pier. They will also start driving piles at Pier 3. The roadway widening work on the west side will continue with the placement of the stone subbase on Red Gate between the river and IL 31. Hecker will install more electric duct on the east side, moving toward IL 25. Western Utility will continue with their storm sewer and watermain installation along IL 25. McHugh will also begin installation of the new retaining walls along IL 25.
ComEd has finished their work installing new poles on IL 25. AT&T and Comcast will now relocate their lines to these new poles. AT&T still has some work to complete on IL 31.
IDOT will be closing IL 25, from IL 64 to Stearns Road, on Monday, July 23 and will last about three weeks. This is necessary to replace a culvert across IL 25. A detour route will be posted.
