    The main items of work over the past several two weeks include boardwalk and boardwalk railing construction, bike path grading, bike path paving, landscaping, and earthwork.

    It is anticipated that the path will be completed in the next few weeks, including all boardwalk and railing.

    In spite of the significant rainfall and very high river levels, some work did proceed during the past two weeks. The contractor continued to work on boardwalk construction, bike path grading, and landscaping.

    In the next few weeks, the boardwalk and trails will near completion.

    Cancelled Due to the Recent Flooding and Continued Rain

    The ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the pedestrian/bicycle crossing of the Red Gate Bridge has been CANCELLED. Recent flooding and continued rain has halted all work on the project. In the interest of public safety, the paths and boardwalks will not be opened at this time. The event, originally was scheduled for May 4.

    In spite of the significant rainfall and very high river levels, some work did proceed during the past two weeks.  The contractor continued to work on boardwalk construction, bike path grading, and landscaping.

    In the next few weeks, the boardwalk and trails will near completion.  Final punchlist work will also continue and final grading of the site, east of the river, will also move forward.

    The main items of work over the past two weeks include boardwalk construction, bike path grading, and watermain pressure testing & chlorination. Progress was also made on final landscaping.

    In the next few weeks, more work will be performed on the trails and boardwalk in advance of the May 4 opening. (Parts of the Fox River Bluff Forest Preserve are now temporarily closed for path construction). Bridge touch up painting will commence. Final site grading and landscaping will also progress, weather permitting.
